Blow away the cobwebs after the Christmas festivities with a bracing walk up Chinthurst Hill near Wonersh, on the outskirts of Guildford. Be rewarded with breath-taking views over the Surrey Hills and down to the South Downs.
Explore what is often stated as the youngest folly in England – a Grade II Scheduled Monument, which was designed by the young Arts & Crafts architect Edwin Lutyens, who also designed nearby Chinthurst Hill House.
We then continue along footpaths and tracks as far as Shalford Common before completing a loop to return to our starting point.
This walk is classed as Moderate so only relatively fit walkers will manage this walk. The walk involves a steep climb to the top of Chinthurst Hill, quite a number of steps and two stiles.
Please dress appropriate to the weather conditions (eg hat/warm fleece/waterproofs) and strong footwear is recommended as it may be muddy in places.
The event is free but booking is essential. If you wish to join us, please register by using the brown button below and full details will be sent to you nearer the time.
Meet: Chinthurst Hill car park off Wonersh Common Road (B2128) between Shalford and Wonersh.
